And others, which are placed in a dedicated place inside the hookah, so that the air becomes loaded with vegetable herbal steam, and the smoker inhales it by simply pressing a button in (the hookah grill) and starting the smoking process.
This new “hookah” takes the same traditional form, but it dispenses with two components: (water) found in traditional hookah and the charcoal responsible for burning tobacco. As for water, the reason for dispensing with it is that its traditional hookah function is to purify tobacco smoke and reduce its dangers, which is not needed by the invention, Because smoking is not tobacco. As for cutting out coal, it is because the method of 'burning' the ingredients used in smoking is different, according to Dowidar.
To transform this invention from mere papers and detailed drawings obtained by the Academy of Scientific Research into a true product, Dowidar conducted practical experiments under the supervision of professors at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, to manufacture a prototype of the invention, and then produce it on a commercial scale.
And the World Health Organization warned, two years ago, of the health risks of smoking hookah or 'hookah' as it is called in some countries.
The organization said, in a 7-page document published on its website, that 'using hookah to smoke tobacco is not a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes ... Contrary to old perceptions and popular beliefs, smoke from (hookah smoker) contains a number of toxic substances that are known about it It causes lung cancer and other diseases. '
The document warned that using hookah to smoke flavored tobacco, exposes the smoker to more smoke over a longer period, compared to the time spent smoking cigarettes.
The document revealed that a person who smokes a hookah can in one session inhale an amount of smoke more than 100 times that of a cigarette.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Azim, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Menoufia, said that the dangers mentioned in the WHO document, which were mentioned in other studies, did not convince a wide section of smokers to quit, and this sector will not work with it 'new shisha'.
Abdel-Azim differentiated between two types of smokers; one with whom smoking was associated with certain times, for example when he was thinking or when he faced a problem, and these new “shisha” could be a suitable alternative for them, while the other type, which (shisha) became for him chemically dependent is He only smokes for nicotine, and these will not work for them with the new invention.
He added, in exclusive statements to 'Al-Ain News': 'This group that depends on nicotine, and despite the difficulty of quitting smoking, some of them quit for family reasons, such as fear of the impact of nicotine smoke on their young children, and these could be the new invention - also- A suitable alternative for them. '
And there are still criteria that must be adhered to for the groups that will decide to rely on the invention, determined by Essam El-Maghazi, former head of the tuberculosis control program at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, saying: “One of the main hookah problems that make it a cause of tuberculosis is its transmission from one person to another, and this does not benefit change Shisha smile (the place where the smoker puts his mouth), because viruses have become endemic in different parts of the hookah.
Al-Maghazi pointed out that taking into account the family dimension in the invention, by providing a safe alternative to domestic smoking, may collide with the fact that some people are allergic to any smells, even if these smells are good, and then the heavy use of this invention at home may not be in their interest.
