The stomach is considered a member of the digestive system, in the form of a J-shaped muscle bag, located in the left side of the human upper abdomen just below the liver, next to the spleen, and between the esophagus and small intestine in most vertebrates.
As for its main function, it consists in mixing and storing food for a temporary period of time, in addition to secreting a juice that helps it digest food inside its cavity, and secreting the hormone gastrin in the blood.
The human stomach contains about 35 million digestive glands that help in the process of digestion and regulation.
