Ingredients:
The filling:
Dates: 750 grams (pitted, soaked in warm water for about 30 minutes)
Butter: a quarter cup
Sweetened condensed milk: half a pack
Semolina: 9 cups
Butter: one and a half cups
Ghee: one and a half cups
Powdered sugar: 1 cup
Nutmeg: 1 teaspoon (ground)
Mahlab: a small spoon
Yeast: 1 teaspoon
Blossom water: three quarters of a cup
Rose water: three quarters of a cup
How to prepare:
In a deep bowl, put semolina, butter, ghee, sugar, nutmeg, mahlab and yeast.
Mix the ingredients well until you get a homogeneous mixture, cover and then set aside for about 4 hours.
To prepare the filling: In another bowl, mix the dates, butter and sweetened condensed milk until you get a cohesive mixture.
- Put the filling in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, until it hardens.
- Take the maamoul mixture from the refrigerator, pour the rose water and blossom water, then rub the dough well until it binds.
Take a portion of the dough, curl it with your hands, then fill it with a little bit of the date mixture.
Form the dough with the maamoul tool, then repeat the ball until the quantity is finished.
- Drain the maamoul on a baking sheet coated with parchment paper, then put it in a preheated oven at 180 ° C.
Leave the tray in the oven for about 20 minutes, until the maamoul becomes golden in color.
