No doubt you've heard some of them talk about following the average diet.

It is, quite simply, a diet linked to the Mediterranean lifestyle, the dietary habits of countries on the shores of the Mediterranean. So, it's not just a diet...

Some research conducted on the Mediterranean diet has indicated that the number of deaths due to heart disease is lower among peoples of Mediterranean countries than among other peoples.

A European study conducted in 1987 also showed that residents of northern Europe witness deaths from heart disease 2.7 times more than residents of the Mediterranean coast.

But, what about this diet?

-Movement first:

The Mediterranean diet contains a pyramid whose base is based on exercise.

Nutrition is important, but exercise is equally important compared to eating healthy food. So, get moving!

-Olive oil:

In Mediterranean countries, fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts, cheeses and dairy are eaten... and also olive oil! It is the main oil added to cold dishes in these countries.

Did you know that each person consumes an average of 23 liters of this oil annually?

A little bit of red meat:

Every week Mediterranean people consume eggs, poultry meat and fish which is their favorite non-vegetarian dish.

What about red meat? It ranks next to candy for these! But they eat it monthly, as they refuse to eat it in large quantities because it contains fat.

Thus, they turn to other sources of proteins necessary for health, such as fish and legumes.

Benefits:

As we mentioned previously, the Mediterranean diet has great benefits, especially with regard to cardiovascular health. But there are many other benefits.

Fighting cancer:

The Mediterranean diet helps reduce the incidence of some types of cancer because it is rich in vegetables and antioxidants, which are considered among the most important factors that help protect against cancer.

No obesity! This diet is based on fresh, almost undenatured foods.

So lots of vegetables and fiber and little fat, which means you can maintain a healthy weight.

Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Some studies have shown that there is a link between this diet and a lower incidence of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

How deliciousIf this dietary pattern contains many health benefits, it also includes many, many delicious dishes. Rich aromas and unparalleled flavours.
